History of using cherry pits:

The practice of using cherry pits is a century old tradition originating in Switzerland when the distillery workers would hang bags of the pits over the factory stoves and at the end of the day they would carry home to soothe their sore muscles.

A traditional Swiss folk remedy, cherry pits are superior to herbal and grain filled pillows because the will never mold, rcreate a moist heat (rice, bean and corn are dry heat) and last for years.

The cherry pit bag is handmade and is convenient and comfortable to use. They retain heat and can be used to relieve aches and pains or a bed warmer. There is an outer bag made of cotton that can easily be removed, gently washed and air dried.  The inner bag is made from muslin and has 4 sections. Inner bag is filled with cherry pits that have been cleaned, dried and sterilized. 

The outer bag can easily be removed, washed, and air dried. Inner bags can be spot cleaned or gently hand-washed and air dried.  If placed in a washing machine it is recommended to wash on gentle cycle, inside of a pillow case. 

Bags are to be heated in a microwave with turntable only.  Lay the bag flat, do not fold on itself. Start be heating for approximately 1.5 minutes. Time may be increased depending on the microwave wattage and desired amount of heat.  Heating over 2 minutes is not recommended. 

Bag may also be placed in a freezer and used as a cooling bag.

Each bag is approximately 19 x 7 inches/48.25 x 17.75 cm.
